Clowny photo journey that we invite you to!
Hi, Dizzy and Cupcake here. You may have noticed that on our YouTube channel we have a slideshow of a photo shoot we had recently, and you may have thought “Well this is cool, but why would you bother going through all of that effort for a few cute photos?” Well, this is why we do, and why we think that you should too.
To grow personality
Originally we DID just want some cool photos, but when we finally went on our first photo shoot, we learned that physically showing your personality through photos is VERY hard but it also helps you to be able to show your personality through physical acting (IE jumping around vs talking.). As well as also forcing you to develop your personality so you don't just look like a smiling clown but instead look like YOUR clown. We have over the last photo shoots learned even more (than we already had) that I, Dizzy, am the crazy, confused clown and am always scaring Cupcake, and that I Cupcake like pretty things like flowers.

To relax
We also find that a photo shoot is a great time to let your hair down, which is nice when you’ve been spending all of your time working hard on preparing for performances and working on your direction. With our photo shoots, we have to think about what poses we are going to make but we can have fun just running around in a park being our clowns. We have no need to memorize lines or figure out how each scene will go, we just go for it and we get the best photos that way.
To make someone's Day
You may feel somewhat uncomfortable with being in full costume in a public place, but honestly, we find that you can make someone's day, and when in character you can totally get into it. We think that this a great way to spread God’s love to a stranger, by simply bringing them a smile or even a laugh.
To update profiles
With today's world being so technology and social media heavy we have to spend time updating our Facebook, Google, and blog profiles. So when we take photos we can freshen up all of these platforms with new photos.
To show change/ document
And lastly, we do photo shoots to show and document how we have changed. This is one of the main reasons most people do non-clown photo shoots. Due to the photo shoots, we have done we have physical documentation of us growing the characters of Cupcake and Dizzy.

Now you may be thinking, “Great so now I want to do a photo shoot, but how? Where? When?”
How?
How do you put on a photo shoot? Well, it is pretty easy. All you have to do is find a place and a time to get everyone in your troupe together. From there you have to have a set photographer with a camera. We have one of our parents be the photographer when we take group photos, but when we are taking individual pictures we will often take photos of the other. The last thing you have to do is have fun and take pictures. The more hassle you put in the more complicated it will be.
Where?
Where can you have a photo shoot? We have found great luck at parks. With parks we have so many options on backgrounds and scenery. With our first photo shoot we had a playground, a splash pad, grassy spot, and a tree for photos which gave us options but we knew for our next photo shoot that we wanted a few more options. Our next photo shoot we chose a larger local park with a caboose and train station, a field with short grass, a field with tall grass, creek, bridge, wooded trails, benches, picnic tables, railroad tracks, a playground, an exercise park, a beach, a fishing dock, and more. With our second photo shoot we had all the options that we wanted. With that photo shoot, we did not get to all the places in the park but we had the options.
You can do a photo shoot anywhere where you have options on different scenes. You will want to make sure that there is room and it’s not a place where people are going to be rushing by and photo bombing your photos. Avoid heavily crowded areas. It would also probably help if this was a local place so you don’t have to spend all of your time on the road, and you probably want to have at least one of your group members know this place so you know what you have there for backgrounds.
When?
When is a good time for a photo shoot? Whenever is good for you! We would recommend that you make sure that you have a few hours to spend without distractions, so maybe not when you're free except for X Y or Z. You also want to make sure that the weather is good, for instance for our last photo shoot it was VERY hot and we were both overheating. So make sure that you are all properly prepared for whatever weather there is supposed to be. We have done both of our photo shoots in summer but it would be fun to do spring or fall and have new growth or fall colors. In our extreme winters that would be difficult but do what works for you in the place that you live.
