Why we video our performances?

Image
Hey everyone, we're back. If you don’t know us we are Cupcake and Dizzy, two fun loving clowns. Today, as the title of the post reveals, we will be talking about our performance videos. Some of you might be wondering why we record our performances and then post them to YouTube. So that is what we are going to talk about today. We have 6 main reasons that we have chosen to record and share our performances on YouTube. Here they are for you. So that we can watch them and critique ourselves In the past, we had never seen ourselves perform and we never had anything to look back on and critique. Now that we have the videos we can look back and see what went well and what to do better next time, and even what the kids did or didn’t seem to get or get into. We also have others who we just send the link to and they give us their feedback as non-performances so that we can continue to grow. So that we have the documentation In the past we wanted to look back at exac...

Clowny photo journey that we invite you to!

Hi, Dizzy and Cupcake here. You may have noticed that on our YouTube channel we have a slideshow of a photo shoot we had recently, and you may have thought “Well this is cool, but why would you bother going through all of that effort for a few cute photos?” Well, this is why we do, and why we think that you should too. To grow personality Originally we DID just want some cool photos, but when we finally went on our first photo shoot, we learned that physically showing your personality through photos is VERY hard but it also helps you to be able to show your personality through physical acting (IE jumping around vs talking.). As well as also forcing you to develop your personality so you don't just look like a smiling clown but instead look like YOUR clown. We have over the last photo shoots learned even more (than we already had) that I, Dizzy, am the crazy, confused clown and am always scaring Cupcake, and that I Cupcake like pretty things like flowers. Dizzy, C...

The questions you never thought to ask; before becoming a clown

Hey, all Cupcake and Dizzy here. Today we thought we would talk about some of the questions that you likely never even thought to ask before you became a clown. When we became clowns there were many questions swarming our heads, but after awhile we learned that there were EVEN more questions that never would have even dawned on us to ask, that maybe we should have asked. (We are not trying to scare anyone away from clowning, we think that it is a wonderful experience! We just want others to know what we might have wanted to know when we first started Am I willing to change into costume in a nonhome setting? This is a weird one, but you will likely want to put some thought into it. When you change at your event then you can get the advantages of not having to dress ahead of time, or risk anyone seeing you getting out of your car, or walking in with someone if they drove you (therefore there is less of a risk of being recognized,) and instead can just “appear”. Howeve...

So... What's this all about?

You might ask us who we are. Well, we are going to tell you.   We are Dizzy and Cupcake. I’m Dizzy and I have made Dizzy a crazy ‘dizzy’ clown who loves to spin with her pinwheels. And I’m Cupcake and I have made Cupcake a ‘sweet’ clown who loves to play with her bunny frosting. We, Dizzy and Cupcake, are the two clowns that make up Something Silly. Something Silly Clowns is our small Christian clown troop where our main mission is to spread God’s love. We mainly minister to kids ages 2-7 and the elderly. About six months ago we were looking for a name for our troupe and we ran across this, incredible poem by Shel Silverstein called “Put something in.” "Draw a crazy picture, Write a nutty poem, Sing a mumble-grumble song, Whistle through your comb. Do a loony-goony dance 'Cross the kitchen floor, Put something silly in the world That ain't been there before. At that point we became Something Silly, where we were going to “put somethi...
